Moraira
Moraira lies in a bay between Javea and Calpe on Spain's beautiful mountainous Costa Blanca, and is perfectly positioned mid-way between the airports of Alicante and Valencia. The area is quiet and relaxing, with attractive private properties set amongst beautiful, unspoiled scenery, and many small villages to explore. Moraira has grown from a small fishing village to an attractive, charming resort, attracting visitors from all over Europe. It has an impressive marina, an excellent variety of local shops, weekly markets, and many restaurants and bars still retaining their Spanish character. Hot Property Spain have many villas and apartments for sale in Moraira as well as surrounding areas such as Benitachell, Javea and Benissa all based in the Costa Blanca.
The town has only recently been discovered by holidaymakers. 30 years ago it was sleepy fishing village with wonderful beaches in the town and along the coastline. Now, the storage huts once used by local fisherman are picturesque houses and shops. Many inhabitants of nearby Teulada moved down to the coast to fish, and today the fishermen still go to sea in the early hours of the morning, and sell their catch later at the traditional fish market – one of the oldest and most important in Spain.
The local sandy and rock beaches have been awarded the EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness. Close to the famous Ampollo beach is the 12th century Castillo - once used to defend the town from sea attacks. To the north of the marina is El Portet, from where several excellent hill walks start.
